From a Two-Man Operation to Pioneering an Industry

Brian Wakefield brings over two decades of dedicated experience and leadership to the onsite wastewater industry — experience that started not in a boardroom, but in a truck alongside his father.

In the late 1990s, Brian began working with his father, Jerry Wakefield, as a real estate inspector and learning the septic business from the ground up. In 2000, they incorporated as B & J Wakefield Services, Inc. — just the two of them, answering every phone call themselves. It didn't take long to learn the lesson that would define Brian's career: in an industry known for being hard to reach and harder to trust, answering the phone and showing up with good service was the real competitive advantage.

Back then, B & J Wakefield Services only offered inspections for real estate then maintenance. But as word spread and demand for installations grew, Brian built out an installation division and began hiring employees. Soon, the company needed its own pump truck to keep up — allowing them to service customers from one single, reliable source rather than referring them elsewhere. That principle — true turnkey service — has never left him.

Brian also pioneered a structure that didn't widely exist in the industry at the time: tiered, true-service maintenance plans. Instead of a one-size-fits-all mandatory contract, he introduced optional plans ranging from basic inspections to comprehensive plans covering major components and pumping — plus standalone pumping options for conventional systems and systems without mandatory maintenance requirements. It was a customer-first innovation built to bring transparency and choice to an industry that had offered neither.

That same B & J Wakefield Services, Inc. — the company that started as a father-and-son operation — became the operational foundation for Homefield Onsite Environmental, the industry's first national all-service septic franchise. Brian didn't just join Homefield; he helped pioneer it, using two decades of hard-won, hands-on lessons about what customers actually need to shape how every franchise in the network operates today.

A recognized leader in Texas and nationwide, Brian actively shapes the regulatory and educational landscape of the onsite sewage facility (OSSF) industry:

• Texas Onsite Wastewater Association (TOWA) — Board member since 2014, having served as both President and Treasurer. He has contributed to the Enforcement, Education, and Conference committees and currently serves as Treasurer of the TOWA PAC, actively developing and monitoring state legislation.
• National Onsite Wastewater Recycling Association (NOWRA) — Currently serving a three-year term on the National Board of Directors (2025–2028), bringing a national perspective to industry best practices.
• NSF International — Actively involved in NSF meetings, helping develop and refine industry standards.

Brian's operational expertise is built on a full spectrum of technical licenses issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ):

• Installer II License (OS0026873) — obtained 2007
• Maintenance Provider License (MP#15) — obtained 2009, following the state mandate
• Class D Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License — obtained 2006
• Extensive manufacturer training across multiple Advanced Treatment Unit (ATU) systems
• Former Texas Real Estate Inspector License (2000–2006), providing specialized OSSF inspection services for real estate transactions

Homefield Onsite Environmental As a Founding Partner and Area Representative for the industry's first national franchise, Brian played a pivotal, pioneering role in building the franchise model itself — using the operating principles of B & J Wakefield Services as its foundation. He leads development, training, and onboarding for new franchisees, ensuring every location delivers the same consistent, high-quality, turnkey service. Homefield is built on a simple belief: septic doesn't have to be a transactional afterthought — it can be a true service industry, with top-quality talent delivering superior products and service.

B & J Wakefield Services, Inc. (dba Homefield Onsite Environmental of Ellis County) As President and Owner since 2000, Brian has grown this company from a two-man operation into one of the inaugural Homefield franchises — renowned for full-service, multiple-option maintenance contracts and a loyal, robust customer base.

Texas Septic Installations As a Founding Partner, Brian leads installation and consulting services for commercial Onsite Sewer Facilities (OSSF) and small Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) — bringing turnkey, engineering-grade solutions to complex commercial projects.

Texas Wastewater, LLC As President and Founding Partner, Brian leads this distribution company, supplying materials and products directly to other installers and maintainers as well as to Homefield Onsite Franchisees to ensure consistent quality and favorable pricing across the network.

Aerobic Guard, LLC As Vice President and Founding Partner, Brian is at the forefront of OSSF technology — specializing in ozone disinfection systems, advanced control panels, and remote monitoring technology with Wi-Fi connectivity, notifications, and AI-powered smart diagnostics.

Jeremy got his start with a national brand  company working his way up through the ranks to Area Manager.  Jeremy has been in the customer service industry for over 20 years. He came to Homefield in 2026 as the General Manager looking to assist with making the septic industry go to a new level of service that the industry has never seen before.

He is OSHA 30 certified and currently has his apprentice license and Maintenance technician license and is working on his installer license.

Hermilo came to B & J Wakefield Services in 2017.  He has worked his way up from ground zero to becoming very proficient and considered one of the experts in the industry.  His roots were from growing up in Mexico to obtaining his citizenship in the United States.  He currently working on becoming a fully licensed Maintenance provider and Installer II.  He is currently the Field Manager Concierge and Homefield Trainer.
